Prospective Graduate Students

The Moritz Fire Lab currently cannot directly accept graduate students, but Max Moritz can co-advise them at UC Santa Barbara by working with another UCSB professor (most likely in the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, Geography Department, or Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology Department). For details about different programs or to begin the online application process, visit the admissions sites linked above.

Though applications are typically due the winter before the year of entry, students are advised to begin preparing well before this date. Note that having a good working relationship with your advisor(s) is crucial to your success as a graduate student. Each department has different faculty sponsorship requirements, but it is strongly advised that you contact Max and a prospective primary advisory early in the application process.
